Baseball Recap: Millersport Lakers vs. Miller Falcons
Millersport had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-6 to make it eight. They fell 10-5 to the Miller Falcons. The Lakers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Darian Smith and Nicholas Yingling stepped up to the plate in a big way. Smith got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Yingling went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Yingling has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Eiginger, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Miller, they now have a winning record of 4-3. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
On Miller's side, Bryce Dorsey made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Dorsey was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Hartley, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Nick Thompson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Looking ahead, Millersport will venture away from home to face off against Nelsonville-York at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Miller, they will welcome Harvest Prep at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
