Baseball Recap: Peninsula Victorious

While Peninsula's win against Rolling Hills Prep wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Huskies 4-3 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since April 8th.

Max Suiter looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Peninsula is 3-1 when Suiter allows three or fewer hits, but 8-14 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Aaron Monzon was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. He has become a key player for Peninsula: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 8-15 otherwise.

Peninsula's record now sits at 11-15. As for Rolling Hills Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7-1.

Coming up, Peninsula will square off against El Segundo at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Rolling Hills Prep, they will be taking part in a tournament against University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
