Softball Game Preview: Henry County Wildcats vs. Walton-Verona Bearcats

The Henry County Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Walton-Verona Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Henry County will be strutting in after a victory while Walton-Verona will be coming in after a defeat.

Henry County came out on top against Owen County on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Wildcats took their matchup against the Rebels 7-2. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Walton-Verona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 15-2 to Ryle.

Walton-Verona saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylan Edwards, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

Henry County pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Walton-Verona, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Henry County was able to grind out a solid victory over Walton-Verona in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
