Baseball Recap: Goddard Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Goddard's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Roswell Coyotes with a sharp 11-1 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Rockets' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Lucien Betancur looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaden Fuentes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Duer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Goddard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

With the win, Goddard broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-10. As for Roswell, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goddard will take on Lovington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give the Rockets their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Roswell, they will face off against Hobbs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Coyotes will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
