Football Recap: Liberty Sets Scoring Season-High Against Paloma Valley

Liberty extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 5-5. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 41-35 W against the Paloma Valley Wildcats. The Bison's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Trent Hallis, who rushed for 119 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Liberty was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 392 rushing yards. They are 4-2 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Liberty didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Leading the way was Carter Lauritzen and his one interception. He also made eight total tackles, which is notable because Liberty is 2-1 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 3-4 otherwise. Lucas Saenz was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making ten total tackles (0.5 for loss).

As for Paloma Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.5 points over those games.

When it comes to explaining why Paloma Valley lost, don't look at Isaac Navarro. Despite the final result, he threw for 275 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 81 yards. Navarro has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played.

Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 42-35 victory against West on the 7th. Paloma Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
