Baseball Game Preview: George County Rebels vs. Terry Bulldogs

The George County Rebels will take on the Terry Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (George County has six straight victories, Terry has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

George County barely beat Hancock the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rebels were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Hawks on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

George County got a great performance from Chandler Cameron as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 4.1 innings pitched. Cameron has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, George County saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brodie Cecchi, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave Cecchi a new career-high.

George County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hancock only managed one hit.

Meanwhile, Terry fell victim to Germantown and their airtight pitching crew last Monday. They lost 12-0 to the Mavericks.

George County's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Terry, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-19.

George County took their win against Terry in their previous meeting back in March of 2017 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
