Baseball Recap: Taravella Trojans vs. Wellington Wolverines

It was a good run, but Taravella unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Wellington Wolverines by a score of 5-3. Taravella was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wellington apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Anthony Quigley was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Taravella didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with nine strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wellington only tossed four.

On Wellington's side, Jhon Abreu made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Abreu was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and a triple.

Abreu wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trevor King, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Taravella's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-4. As for Wellington, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taravella will face off against Coral Glades at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams have allowed few runs on average, (Taravella: 1.9, Coral Glades: 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Wellington, they will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Palm Beach Central at 4:30 p.m.
