Basketball Game Preview: Lafayette Central Catholic Knights vs. Crawfordsville Athenians

Lafayette Central Catholic is on a six-game streak of home losses, Crawfordsville a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. The Lafayette Central Catholic Knights will welcome the Crawfordsville Athenians at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Friday, Lafayette Central Catholic ended up a good deal behind West Lafayette and lost 57-38. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Red Devils are ranked 80th).

The losing side was boosted by Ray Clayton, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlie Seaburg, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Crawfordsville came up short against Twin Lakes on Saturday and fell 54-41. While the Athenians didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Indians 12-5 in the first quarter.

Lafayette Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Crawfordsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Lafayette Central Catholic skirted past Crawfordsville 63-61 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Crawfordsville's Drake Burris, who went 8-for-15 to rack up 19 points in addition to six assists and three steals.
