Basketball Recap: Sumrall Takes a Loss + How To Watch

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Sumrall and West Marion meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Bobcats took a 64-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 48-41 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

West Marion's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Bullock, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 28 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of James Stampley, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 boards.

Sumrall's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for West Marion, their record is now 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sumrall will square off against Purvis at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for West Marion, they will face off against North Forrest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
