Baseball Game Preview: Shorewood Stormrays vs. Shorecrest Scots

For the second straight game, Shorewood will face off against Shorecrest. The Stormrays will face off against the Scots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Shorewood will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Shorewood lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Shorecrest, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Stormrays blew past the Scots 11-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Stormrays have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jameson Connolly made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Connolly was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Shorewood got a big performance out of Danny Morgan, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave Morgan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo Jaramillo, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Shorewood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Shorecrest's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3. As for Shorewood, their record now sits at 7-2.

Shorecrest's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Shorewood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325.
