Softball Recap: Williamstown Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Williamstown brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Everything went their way against the Magnolia Blue Eagles on Wednesday as they made off with a 10-4 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Yellowjackets as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Alyssa Clare spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Williamstown got a big performance out of Nevaeh Moore, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kyla Myer, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Moore wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Williamstown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Yellowjackets are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Williamstown's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Magnolia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Williamstown will square off against South Harrison at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.4 runs per game on average), something the Yellowjackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Magnolia, they will face off against Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
