Basketball Recap: Pawnee Heights Takes a Loss

Pawnee Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 68-21 loss at the hands of the Hodgeman County Longhorns. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-14.

When it comes to explaining why Pawnee Heights lost, don't look at Clayton Hammeke. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Hammeke is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

It was another big night for Hazen Rydquist, who went 10 of 15 on his way to 24 points and six assists for Hodgeman County. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Schroeder, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points.

Pawnee Heights' loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Hodgeman County, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Pawnee Heights will head out to square off against Ashland at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hodgeman County, they will welcome Minneola at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
