Baseball Recap: Burton Wins Going Away Against KIPP SF College Prep

Burton won against Gateway last Tuesday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Burton Pumas never let the KIPP SF College Prep Phoenix get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for the Pumas this season.

Joshua Soriano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Burton is 3-1 when Soriano posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, Christian Pabalate was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Zimry Rucker was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Burton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Burton and bumps their season record up to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Burton will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against O'Connell at 3:30 p.m. Burton knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully O'Connell likes a good challenge. KIPP SF College Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Galileo at 3:30 p.m. on March 19th.
