Baseball Recap: Lake Nona Lions vs. Olympia Titans
Lake Nona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Olympia Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-5 last Friday.
Leonardo Suarez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tsubasa Sasaki, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Lake Nona's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Olympia, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Nona will face off against Apopka at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Lake Nona 3.4, Apopka 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Olympia, they will challenge Broken Arrow at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
