            Softball Recap: Hough Huskies vs. Chambers Cougars        
        
		
        
        
            Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Hough). They never let the Chambers Cougars get on the board and left with  an   18-0  victory  on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Huskies needed considering they were shut out in their previous   game.
 Payton Elwell made a splash no matter where she played. She  struck out eight batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. She has been consistent  recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-3 with two  runs, one  triple,  and two  RBI. That  triple marked the first that  she  hit this season.
 In other batting news, Hough got a  massive  performance out of  Ashlyn Rogers, who  went 2-for-3 with three  runs, one  triple,  and two  RBI. Rogers also put up a  double, which was her first of the season.  Reese Lavey was another key player,  scoring three  runs while going 2-for-2.
 Hough  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .655. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.

Hough pushed their record up to 5-1 with the  win, which was their sixth straight  on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Chambers,  with the  loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-1.
 Coming up, Hough will host West Mecklenburg  at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Chambers,  a feisty cat fight will be fought as Chambers Cougars  duke it out with  Berry Cardinals at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday.
