Basketball Recap: Thunder Basin Comes Up Short at Home Against Scottsbluff

Thunder Basin unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 65-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Scottsbluff Bearcats on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bolts of the 59-46 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.

Scottsbluff's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylee Meininger, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points along with five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Kelley, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

The victory was the third in a row for Scottsbluff, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Thunder Basin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-31 win against Douglas on the 13th. Scottsbluff has also already played their next matchup, an 80-54 victory against Worland on the 13th.
