Mount Vernon took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Edison, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Majors narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Eagles 8-7. This was payback for the Majors, who suffered a 13-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Aarti Nachnani made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Nachnani was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Mount Vernon let Alannah Martinez and Isa Erpestad run wild. Martinez scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Erpestad scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Martinez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Stowers, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Mount Vernon now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Edison, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Mount Vernon is set to square off against their familiar foe Falls Church at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Edison will challenge rival Hayfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
