Basketball Game Preview: Gaston Greyhounds vs. Vernonia Loggers

Gaston is 0-10 against Vernonia since January of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Gaston Greyhounds will take on the Vernonia Loggers at 6:00 p.m.

Gaston is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They took a blow against Portland Christian, falling 66-36.

Meanwhile, Vernonia had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 29-26 victory over the Bobcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Loggers have posted since February 17, 2024.

Gaston's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Vernonia, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Gaston suffered a grim 41-15 defeat to Vernonia in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Gaston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
