Basketball Game Preview: Fellowship Academy Mustangs vs. DasCHE Spartans

The Fellowship Academy Mustangs will face off against the DasCHE Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Fellowship Academy sitting on 11 straight wins and DasCHE on four.

Last Friday, Fellowship Academy took their matchup with ease, bagging a 54-25 victory over Abilene Christian. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 games by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Rhyia Ray, who posted 18 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Marks, who scored eight points and 14 rebounds.

Fellowship Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 28 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, DasCHE's game on Tuesday was all tied up 22-22 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 48-35 win over Yavneh Academy.

Fellowship Academy pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.3 points over those games. As for DasCHE, their record is now 14-4.

Fellowship Academy took a serious blow against DasCHE in their previous meeting back in December of 2020, falling 64-15. Can Fellowship Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
