Baseball Recap: Deering Gets the Win

Deering posted their closest win since May 18, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Westbrook Blue Blazes. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tavian Lauture was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yadier Lorda-Flores, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Liam Brunelle also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Deering and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Westbrook, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.
