Baseball Recap: Lee Williams Triumphs

Lee Williams hadn't done well against Coconino recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Lee Williams Volunteers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Coconino Panthers. This was a revenge game for the Volunteers: when they faced off against the Panthers last Tuesday, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

Ian McGrew tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Lincoln Lewandowski was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Norbert, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-4.

Lee Williams' win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Coconino, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7-1.

When Lee Williams and Coconino next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Lee Williams will take on Cactus Shadows and their six-game winning streak at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Coconino will try to stop Prescott's three-game winning streak when they meet at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
