League recap: Caillet overpowering for Mabank in past week

3A Region II District 15 league recap: 3/13/13

Mabank's Stephen Caillet was the best pitcher in 3A Region II District 15 this week. Over the past week, he had one win and 17 Ks.

Top honors in the league this week go to Mineola, which finished with four wins overall, good for best in the league. The Yellowjackets beat Bullard 12-7, Wills Point 6-5 and Malakoff 15-1.

Canton boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

There were three hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. The group was paced by CHANDLER EILAND, who collected three hits in five at bats for a .600 average.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Caillet, who turned in 17 Ks for the Panthers. With 49 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.



Caillet threw a no-hitter this week in Mabank's 8-0 victory over Kemp.

The Panthers' Caillet struck out 16 the Yellowjackets hitters en route to an 8-0 victory on March 12. He gave up zero hits and zero runs over seven innings of work.
