Softball Recap: Scottsburg Comes Up Short

Scottsburg extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They came up short against the Corydon Central Panthers, falling 22-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 8-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Scottsburg saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelsey Pinto- Herrera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple.

As for Corydon Central, their record now sits at 13-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Corydon Central's side, Ava Gerdon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Gerdon was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Corydon Central let Addyson Branham and Paisley Teeter run wild. Branham got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs, while Teeter went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Teeter a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Juhasz, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Coming up, Scottsburg will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Clarksville at 5:30 p.m. As for Corydon Central, they will challenge Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.61 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
