Volleyball Recap: West Boca Raton Comes Up Short on the Road Against Pine Crest

West Boca Raton kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Pine Crest Panthers by a score of 3-2.

West Boca Raton started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-14, 15-9.

Despite the defeat, West Boca Raton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sofia Maldonado had 18 assists and 13 digs.

Pine Crest was led to victory by Isabella Collado and Kaylee Foreman. Collado had 12 digs and five aces, while Foreman had 20 digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave Foreman a new career-high in assists (six).

Looking ahead, West Boca Raton will be playing at home against Dr. Joaquin Garcia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pine Crest, they will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Benjamin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
