It was a good run, but West Mesquite unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 14-1 to the Poteet Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 on March 4th.
Zoraida Barron made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple and one RBI.
West Mesquite's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Poteet, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
Looking ahead, West Mesquite will face off against Adams at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Adams has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.25 runs per game on average), something West Mesquite will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Poteet, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Spruce at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Poteet is facing Spruce at the right time seeing as Spruce is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
