Basketball Recap: West Lowndes Panthers vs. Smithville Seminoles
The West Lowndes Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to Smithville.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Smithville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mary Haley Hood, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hood hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Wall, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
West Lowndes' loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Smithville, their win bumped their record up to 8-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Lowndes won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Chieftains at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Okolona will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Smithville, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Houlka comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
