Two dominant  signal callers in  Vernon Lacy and  Cam Mobley are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The McLane Highlanders will welcome the Hoover Patriots  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. McLane knows how to get  points on the board -- the  squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Hoover likes a good challenge.
McLane is headed in fresh off scoring the most  points they have   all season. They claimed a resounding  71-0 victory over Madera South. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Highlanders' considerable advantage  in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Stallions are ranked 816th).
Meanwhile, Hoover came up short against Roosevelt on Friday and fell  27-17. The Patriots have struggled against the Rough Riders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Although Hoover took the loss, they still got scores from  Caleb Marquez and  Mobley.
 Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 11 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of  Marquez, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
 McLane pushed their record up to 9-0 with the  win, which was their sixth straight  at home. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.3 points on average over those games. As for Hoover, they now  have a losing record of 4-5.
 Everything came up roses for McLane against Hoover when the teams last played  back in November of 2024, as the  team secured  a  58-13 win. In that  game, the Highlanders amassed a halftime lead of  35-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat  on Friday.
