Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is El Rancho's Third in Last Four Outings

While El Rancho put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Whittier. The Dons came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 4-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-2 back in April.

Not much got past Alex Aparicio, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Whittier off the board. Aparicio also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because El Rancho is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Alexander Moraza was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. David Aguirre was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

El Rancho is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Whittier, they dropped their record down to 6-17 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: El Rancho beat the Cardinals by a score of 9-5 on Wednesday.
