Football Recap: Mt. Carmel Sundevils vs. Westview Wolverines
Mt. Carmel put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past the Westview Wolverines with points to spare, taking the game 31-14. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Sundevils also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2023.
Trevor Taumoepeau had a dynamite game for Mt. Carmel, throwing for 343 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushing for 51 yards on only seven carries. Liam Bowcott was another key player, picking up 139 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Mt. Carmel wouldn't let Westview keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Mt. Carmel can thank Kyle Bolas and Julian Sablan for forcing both of them.
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mason Walsh, who threw for 195 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 34 yards and a touchdown. Walsh also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making four total tackles and defending a pass.
Mt. Carmel's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-0. As for Westview, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Mt. Carmel will be playing in front of their home fans against San Diego at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Carmel has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 100 points over their last three matchups. As for Westview, they will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Oceanside at 7:00 p.m.
