Preview: Branchville Yellow Jackets vs. Bethune-Bowman Mohawks

Branchville has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Bethune-Bowman Mohawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Branchville was handed a 34-point defeat in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Friday. Branchville came out on top in a nail-biter against Bamberg-Ehrhardt and snuck past 48-45. The win was just what Branchville needed coming off of a 80-46 loss in their prior contest.

Branchville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyran Glover, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Glover hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Marcus Felder was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.

Meanwhile, Bethune-Bowman had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They strolled past Scott's Branch with points to spare, taking the game 57-42. Given Bethune-Bowman's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Scott's Branch is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Branchville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Bethune-Bowman, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Branchville was dealt a bruising 67-36 loss at the hands of Bethune-Bowman when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Branchville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
