Baseball Recap: Del Oro Victorious

Del Oro hadn't done well against Granite Bay recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Golden Eagles skirted past the Grizzlies 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Eagles have posted against the Grizzlies since May 5, 2023.

Jackson Stewart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Nico Busalacchi was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Lucas Pusterla also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Del Oro's record now sits at 12-5. As for Granite Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Del Oro will host Davis Sr. at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Golden Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Granite Bay, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Folsom at 4:30 p.m. The last three games the Bulldogs have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
