Recap: Concord Academy Eagles vs. Grace Christian Crusaders
After a string of nine wins, the Concord Academy Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Grace Christian on the road and fell 71-27. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Concord Academy has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Concord Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Samantha Meyers. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points.
Concord Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Sarah Strong was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 22 rebounds for Grace Christian. Strong is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabella "Isa" Roman, who scored 15 points.
Concord Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3. As for Grace Christian, they pushed their record up to 24-0 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Concord Academy will take on the Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Westminster Catawba Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 253rd in South Carolina, while the Eagles are ranked 41st in North Carolina). As for Grace Christian, they will be playing at home against the Mighty Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
