Softball Recap: Midlothian Heritage Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

Midlothian Heritage picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 10-2 margin over the Martin Warriors. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Skeylah Shirley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed over her last eight games. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two triples and two runs. That's the most triples she has posted over her last 16 contests.

In other batting news, Rylee Parrish and Amiya VanMeter did most of the damage at the plate: Parrish went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while VanMeter scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits VanMeter has posted since back in April of 2024. Taylor Bilderback was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Midlothian Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Midlothian Heritage has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. Martin has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season.

Midlothian Heritage wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-3 win against Palmer on the 1st. As for Martin, they will be playing at home against Lamar at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamar has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.89 runs per game on average), something Martin will no doubt try to take advantage of.
