Basketball Recap: Williamsburg Wildcats vs. Felicity-Franklin Cardinals
Even though the Felicity-Franklin Cardinals scored an imposing 65 points on Friday, the Williamsburg Wildcats still came out on top. Williamsburg walked away with a 73-65 win over the Cardinals. Given Williamsburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Cardinals are ranked 655th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landen Forbes, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Zander Marlow was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Williamsburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Felicity-Franklin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.
Williamsburg won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Lockland is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Felicity-Franklin, they will challenge the Astros at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Clinton has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
