Preview: West Point-Beemer Cadets vs. Howells-Dodge Jaguars

West Point-Beemer has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Howells-Dodge Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, West Point-Beemer came up short against North Bend Central and fell 60-51.

West Point-Beemer's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Blaize Brockman, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds, and Colten Haber who scored 17 points. Haber set a new season high mark in points with 17. Another player making a difference was Peyton Penrose, who scored six points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Howells-Dodge had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Oakland-Craig 37-34. Given Howells-Dodge's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Oakland-Craig is ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Point-Beemer's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Howells-Dodge, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

West Point-Beemer took a serious blow against Howells-Dodge in their previous matchup back in January, falling 64-35. Thankfully for West Point-Beemer, Lance Brester (who scored 17 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
