Softball Game Preview: Grayson County Blue Devils vs. Auburn Eagles

Grayson County hasn't had much luck against Auburn recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Blue Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Grayson County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They beat Eastern Montgomery by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-3. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Meanwhile, while Auburn put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Highland. The Eagles put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 8-0 win.

Skyler Hodges looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaylen Mitcham, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Leah Wimmer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Auburn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Grayson County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Auburn, their record is now 21-1.
