Basketball Recap: Chapman Comes Up Short

Chapman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 71-44 loss at the hands of the Royal Valley Panthers. The Irish were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Chapman had strong showings from Jed Moody, who posted 15 points and six rebounds, and Drew Elliott, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Moody a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Bo Rothchild, who earned five points.

Chapman's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Royal Valley, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4-2.

Chapman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-40 loss against St. Mary's Academy on the 24th. Royal Valley has also already played their next game, a 76-58 defeat against Santa Fe Trail on the 24th.
