Recap: Ocean Springs Greyhounds vs. Biloxi Indians

The Ocean Springs Greyhounds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 12th straight loss. They were beaten by Biloxi 53-18. While losing is never fun, Ocean Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Indians are ranked 14th).

Biloxi found their leader in underclassman Zaniya Johnson, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. That makes it four consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Biloxi's points. Another player making a difference was Nakenya Terry, who scored seven points along with three steals.

Ocean Springs dropped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.4 points per game. As for Biloxi, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ocean Springs' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Biloxi, they will challenge the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Theodore is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
