Baseball Game Preview: Oakland Tech Bulldogs vs. Fremont Tigers

Oakland Tech is a perfect 6-0 against Fremont since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Oakland Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Oakland Tech gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Piedmont as they made off with a 13-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Elias Thompson tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Hayden Burton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Oakland Tech: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Rasheed Pittman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI and one double.

Oakland Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.6.

Meanwhile, Fremont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Oakland, falling 18-6.

Oakland Tech is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Oakland Tech took their win against Fremont in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 30-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
