It was fun while it lasted, but Centennial's undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Thursday. They fell just short of the Santiago Sharks by a score of 3-2. The loss put an end to the Huskies' undefeated start to the season.

Joseph Malki was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Centennial saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Simpson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Centennial fell to 8-1. As for Santiago, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-3.

Centennial and Santiago should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Centennial (ranked third) will meet Great Oak (ranked 416th) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Centennial will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak dating back to last season alive. Similarly, Santiago will square off against Walnut at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 315 places (117 vs. 432). The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Centennial 3.2, Santiago 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
