After flying high against Wolfe County last Saturday, Hazard came back down to earth. The Hazard Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs fell just short of the Breathitt County Bobcats by a score of 61-59 on Monday. The Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Austin Sperry was his usual excellent self, shooting 42% from the field en route to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists for Breathitt County. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sperry has scored at least a third of Breathitt County's points. Another player making a difference was Braxton Terry, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Hazard's loss dropped their record down to 30-3. As for Breathitt County, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 24-8.

Hazard does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Breathitt County will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against North Laurel at 11:00 a.m. on March 27th. Breathitt County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully North Laurel likes a good challenge.
