Softball Recap: Walled Lake Western's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Walled Lake Western's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Detroit Country Day Yellowjackets. The win was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Audrianna Thorsell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Walled Lake Western got a massive performance out of Sierra Geisler, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Izamar Oberholtzer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Walled Lake Western lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Walled Lake Western's victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Detroit Country Day, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walled Lake Western will face off against South Lyon East at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Detroit Country Day, they will challenge Brighton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Yellowjackets are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
