Baseball Recap: Stanton Buffaloes vs. Lamesa Tornadoes
Stanton had to endure an 11-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lamesa Tornadoes on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Buffaloes have posted since February 22nd.
Gage McCown and Jaedyn Martinez were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, McCown didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Meanwhile, Martinez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Stanton is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-12 otherwise. They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Braydn Garcia also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
