Baseball Game Preview: Sheboygan Falls Falcons vs. Brillion Lions

For the second straight game, Sheboygan Falls will face off against Brillion. The Falcons will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Lions at 5:30 p.m. Sheboygan Falls is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Sheboygan Falls fell victim to Brillion and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions.

For Brillion's part, the result came thanks to Joe Shimek's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. The Lions are 3-1 when Shimek posts eight or more strikeouts, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Brillion's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was MC Zutz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave Zutz a new career-high. Kelvin Gilbertson was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Brillion's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Sheboygan Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
