Basketball Recap: Immanuel Takes a Loss

Immanuel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost to the Selma Bears on the road by a 65-46 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 88-77 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Immanuel saw an underclassman step up: sophomore James Galpin went 5 for 12 en route to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and five blocks. The dominant performance gave Galpin a new career-high in blocks. Bennett Cords was another key player, putting up ten points and seven boards.

Immanuel's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Selma, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-14.

Immanuel has already played their next match (against Kingsburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Selma will head out on the road to square off against Kerman at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Kerman's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests.
