Basketball Recap: DeKalb Comes Up Short

DeKalb lost against Rock Port back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The DeKalb Tigers had to suffer through a 69-15 loss at the hands of the Rock Port Blue Jays. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-1.

It was another big night for Jack Meyerkorth, who went 9 of 14 en route to 23 points and five steals for Rock Port. The game was Meyerkorth's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Holmes, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for DeKalb and nudges their season record down to 1-15. As for Rock Port, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

DeKalb wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 74-9 defeat against Nodaway Valley co-op [West Nodaway/Nodaway-Holt] on the 24th. As for Rock Port, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-55 win against King City on the 24th.
