Basketball Game Preview: West Lowndes Panthers vs. Vardaman Rams

West Lowndes is 2-8 against Vardaman since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The West Lowndes Panthers will welcome the Vardaman Rams at 6:00 p.m. Vardaman took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on West Lowndes, who comes in off a win.

West Lowndes will head into Tuesday's match on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Houlka on Tuesday. West Lowndes was the clear victor by a 47-26 margin over Houlka. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted since November 21, 2024.

Meanwhile, Vardaman unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a blow against Okolona, falling 63-28. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-8.

Vardaman's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-10. As for West Lowndes, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

West Lowndes couldn't quite finish off Vardaman when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 55-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Vardaman's Kamri Jones, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 15 boards.
