Skiatook took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Verdigris, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Cardinals on Thursday. While the Bulldogs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Skiatook's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Verdigris, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6.

Looking ahead, Skiatook will head out on the road to square off against Cushing at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Verdigris, they will host Berryhill at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Chiefs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
