Baseball Recap: Everett Comes Up Short

Everett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Archbishop Murphy Wildcats. That's two games in a row now that the Seagulls have lost by just one run.

Andreas Gutierrez led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Everett's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Mac Larsen, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one run.

Everett's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Archbishop Murphy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Everett will face off against Monroe at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bearcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Seagulls surely won't give up without a fight. As for Archbishop Murphy, they will square off against Seattle Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
