Baseball Recap: Beech Victorious

Blackman typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Beech proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Blaze. That's more bragging rights for the Buccaneers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kaden Powell was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last three matches. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Beech: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jack Douglass was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. TJ Abrams also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Beech and bumps their season record up to 9-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Blackman, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 10-1.

Coming up, Beech will take on Mount Juliet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Mount Juliet has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Blackman, they are taking a road trip to face off against Friendship Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Friendship Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something Blackman will no doubt try to take advantage of.
